SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS: FITNESS, WELLNESS + YOUR MIND

HEY LADIES, IT’S YOUR GIRL TOTALBODYCARLY and I’m here to remind you that the holidays are not a “test” you have to pass.

They’re a season - full of connection, chaos and cookies. and the best part about is this is that you can enjoy it without losing your progress or your peace.

Let’s talk about how to stay grounded, fit and mentally strong when life gets extra festive (and a little overwhelming).

1. MOVE YOUR BODY - EVEN IF IT’S NOT PERFECT

The holidays aren’t about crushing PRs or hitting every workout perfectly. They’re about staying consistent enough to feel good.

Even if it’s just a walk after dinner, a quick lift in your garage or stretching before bed - movement is medicine. It helps regulate hormones, manage stress, and keep you connected to your goals. Consistency over intensity, always.

2. HYDRATE LIKE IT’S YOUR JOB

Between travel, drinks and holiday food, dehydration creeps up fast. I aim for at least a gallon of water a day, no matter what.

It helps with digestion, energy and keeping bloat at bay. Plus, it makes you think twice before reaching for that fourth or fifth cookie (we’ve all been there).

3. BALANCE YOUR PLATES

You don’t have to restrict - you just have to balance.

If you know dinner will be heavier, eat lighter earlier in the day with high-protein, high-fiber meals. Fill half your plate with protein and veggies first, then enjoy the other stuff mindfully.

You can enjoy holiday foods without going off the rails. It’s called awareness, not restriction.

4. PROTECT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

This one’s big, ladies.

The holidays can bring up stress, family dynamics or even loneliness and that can weigh heavier than any dessert table.

So protect your peace. Say no when you need to. Take breaks. Go for a walk. Journal. Do something that grounds you each day - even if it’s just five minutes alone with your coffee.

Your mental health is part of your wellness routine. Never forget that.

5. GIVE YOURSELF GRACE

You’re not going to do it perfectly and that’s okay.

What matters is that you don’t let one indulgent meal turn into a week of “I’ll start over later.” Each choice is a chance to realign.

Enjoy the moments. Eat the meal. Laugh with your people. Then keep showing up for yourself.

You can have balance and still make progress - that’s the goal.
